Lighting of Sci-Fi Industrial Kit 2.0

I wanted to show off my lighting chops by redoing the lighting of specific packages in Unreal 4. I stripped the "showcase" lighting, and added my own take on lighting for the space. I wanted to focus on an evening scene with strong mood-lighting that would implement colour theory and psychology to drive the player. In this portfolio piece, I used the SciFi/ Industrial Level Kit 2.0 by Ximo Catala from the Unreal Marketplace.

I wanted to create an almost monochromatic aesthetic using a very limited colour pallette of sodium vapour lights which are often found in industrial areas, aircraft hangars or oil rigs. In keeping with my realistic theme, I strayed away from using lighting that is typically found in video games, focusing on realistic lighting. Another focal point of this design was on functionality of the space. I incorporated brighter lights in zones that would be used more often than those that were mere transitional spaces.
